Musical maestros and graceful dancers will once again take over Bushwick Inlet Park this summer, as the greenspace’s third-annual summer music series will kick off on June 22 — bringing the best tunes and loads of cheer to the park every Thursday evening.
Friends of Bushwick Inlet Park (FBIP), the stewards of the Kent Avenue space, announced the six-week lineup of programming, which will take place at 6:30 p.m. each week.
Visitors can enjoy jazz, Latin, Caribbean and Folk musical performances at the 86 Kent Avenue waterfront plaza of the Bushwick Inlet Park (BIP) until July 27, with all performances being free and open to the public.
BIP, a five-acre waterfront park overlooking the East River in Williamsburg and was conceived by design firm Starr Whitehouse.
Some of this summer’s exciting musical acts on the docket include Tambor y Caña, JFA All-Stars, Bombayo, Juana Luna, Gerry Eastman & Friends, Jackson Lynch & Friends as well as FBIP’s partner and neighbor, Southside cultural organization, El Puente/CADRE.
El Puente/CADRE work to use community interactions and community-based solutions to combat street violence and crime, and have worked with FBIP to fight for environmental justice including the fight for BIP and the Jazz Foundation of America to curate and program the summer music series.
