Cane-point robbery
Two cane-toting brutes beat and robbed a man on Bergen Street on Feb. 16, cops said.
The victim said he was walking between Nevins and Bond streets at 10:45 pm when two toughs approached him from behind and body-checked him to the ground, according to a police report. The punks started punching him and hitting him with a cane and tried to keep him quiet by covering his mouth.
“Shut up. Stop talking,” they supposedly said.
The victim reported that his attackers fled with his camera and messenger bags on Bergen Street towards Nevins Street and that he chased them to the intersection where he was again beaten. The victim managed to recover his camera bag, but not his messenger bag, which contained an iPod, clothes, and debit and credit cards, according to a report. The attack left the victim covered in bruises, police stated.
Department score
A sneaky thief stole a woman’s wallet from her purse as she shopped in a department store on Fulton Street on Feb. 21, cops said.
The woman told police she was perusing the aisles of the establishment between Red Hook Lane and Jay Street at 2:20 pm when someone took the wallet from her purse, which was hanging from her shoulder. The wallet contained debit, credit, and gift cards, according to a report.
Rear window
A quick crook nabbed a woman’s purse from inside her parked car on Schermerhorn Street while two children watched from the backseat, on Feb. 21, according to police.
The victim told cops she parked her car at the corner of Bond Street to run into a nearby store at 3:30 pm, leaving her two kids in the rear with the door unlocked. The daring thief opened the car door and grabbed the handbag, which contained $68 in cash, plus debit and credit cards, cops said.
Identity bereft
A Dean Street woman reported to police on Feb. 20 that someone opened a credit card in her name.
The woman, who lives between Boerum Place and Court Street, told cops that someone used her personal information to open a new credit card account, and had run up $1,001 in charges since January.
Slick pocket
A couple of pickpockets stole a man’s wallet on a crowded rush hour train at the Borough Hall station on Feb. 20, police said.
The victim reported that he entered the station at 8:40 am and put his wallet back in to his front left pants pocket after using. As he boarded a packed Manhattan-bound 4 train, he was bumped and shoved by two men, and felt his something move in the area of his pocket, cops said. The pair of scallywags got off the train and, as the doors closed, the victim noticed his wallet was missing and, with it, $90 in cash and debit and credit cards, cops said.
Unlawful withdrawal
A Gold Street resident told police someone made withdrawals from his savings account without his permission on Feb. 19.
The victim, who lives between Johnson and Tillary streets, reported the transactions at 7 am, and told cops $303 was missing, but that he still had possession of his bank card.
Karate chopped
The owner of a martial arts studio on Atlantic Avenue told cops this week that someone stole four tablet devices and a laptop from his business on Jan. 16.
The owner of the business between Third and Fourth avenues knew the thief and tried to recover the items himself by making the punk take him to the place where he sold the electronics. The owner recovered one of the tablets, according to the report.
Photographic memory
An unfortunate photographer lost his backpack to thieves in Brooklyn Bridge Park on Feb. 16.
The man said he was taking photos in Brooklyn’s front yard near Fulton Street around 8 pm, and put his bag, containing a laptop and external hard drive, on the ground near a bench, according to police.
He left it behind and boarded a subway train heading to Manhattan, then returned to retrieve it once he realized it was missing, but by then it was too late, cops said.
Thong gone
A crook filched sandals and a camera from a Pierrepont Street lobby on Feb. 22, cops said.
A worker told cops he saw the thief steal a pair of Banana Republic sandals and a digital camera from the building between Henry and Clinton streets at at 3:40 pm, then flee.
Mess with exes
Cops cuffed a 56-year-old man on Feb. 18 who they say stole items from his ex-girlfriend’s apartment in the Farragut Houses and threatened her life.
The victim, who lives on Nassau Street between Gold and Navy streets, told cops she left her home for the weekend with her new boyfriend on Feb. 14. She returned on Feb. 16 at 7:30 pm to find her ex, who still had a key, hiding in the abode, according to the report. The new boyfriend was also present, and the creep left without incident, cops said.
The victim called police once she noticed $800 in cash, a laptop, and some jewelry missing. While the law was on the scene, the ex-boyfriend called and threatened her on the phone, according to a police report. The building’s supervisor installed a new deadbolt on the victim’s door and cops arrested the galoot two days later, authorities said.
Another bad romance
A 28-year-old brute was arrested on Feb. 21 for pushing around his ex-girlfriend and stealing her phone on the Borough Hall subway platform, police reported.
The victim said her ex started an argument with her on the Brooklyn-bound 2 train platform at 12:30 am.
“F——- b—-, I don’t want you anymore,” he supposedly yelled.
The ruffian shoved her against the wall several times and took her cellphone and house keys, cops said. Police arrested the alleged bully later that day.
From Court to court
Cops busted a 25-year-old who they say was involved with the violent robbery of a woman on Clinton Street on Feb. 19.
The victim reported she was walking between Remsen and Joralemon streets at 7:50 pm when three goons attacked her, pulling her to the ground by her hair, and kicking her repeatedly.
The toughs grabbed the lady’s phone from her hand and ran to Schermerhorn Street, then towards Court Street, according to a police report. Cops said they found one of the suspects after a canvass and that he was in possession of marijuana.
Subway-laid
Three terrible teens robbed a woman on the mezzanine of the Jay Street-MetroTech subway station on Feb. 18, cops said.
The victim said she was purchasing a MetroCard from the vending machine at 7 pm, when the three teens came up from behind, grabbed her, siezed her wallet from her hand, and pushed her to the ground. The wallet contained debit and credit cards, according to a report.
