“Will that be cash, credit or library card?”
Nothing makes holiday shoppers happier than a chance to save money, and the Brooklyn Public Library is offering its most loyal customers just that.
Members simply have to show their library cards to get discounts at participating locations such as the Brooklyn Circus boutique in Boerum Hill; restaurants like Ginger Root Café in Prospect Heights; and spas, shops and other places where you’ll be spending money this holiday season.
“It’s a good cause,” said Cecilia Cataldo, whose Cataldo’s Restaurant in Prospect Heights, is taking part. “It gives Brooklyners an incentive to read. I’ve already seen a few book lovers flash their cards.”
The discount program started back in February with only a handful of participating businesses, but has branched out to more than 30 locations in Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Sunset Park, Clinton Hill, and Bedford-Stuyvesant.
“We’re trying to incorporate local businesses from across the borough,” said library spokeswoman Malika Granville.
Bookworms should look for window decals that mark participating locations. The decals feature a photo of the green library card and say, “Show your card, get discounts.”
And don’t forget — library cards are free!
