Wyckoff swipe
A thug took a man’s wallet and cellphone on Wyckoff Street — and blamed him for causing his own murder if he did not comply — on Aug. 2.
The victim was near Hoyt Street when the perp approached him and shouted, “Don’t make this a homicide — give me all your money” before brandishing a gun.
The victim didn’t argue and quickly gave up the contents of his wallet and his Blackberry smart phone.
Train snatch
A thug grabbed a woman’s iPod while riding a Manhattan-bound Q train on Aug. 6.
The woman was listening to her iPod as she rode the train at around 5 pm when a thug approached her and grabbed the popular digital music player from her hands before exiting the subway at DeKalb Avenue.
Motorcycle mischief
At least three motorcycles were picked off last week. Here’s a round-up.
• Thieves drove off with a Kawasaki motorcycle that had been parked on Willow Street near Orange Street on Aug. 3 at around 8 pm. When the owner returned at 8 am the next morning, he discovered the motorbike missing.
• The same evening, a Suzuki motorcycle parked just a few blocks away on Hicks Street near Pineapple Street at around 11 pm by a Manhattan man was also discovered missing the next morning.
• On Aug. 7, thieves grabbed another Kawasaki motorcycle that had been parked on Wyckoff Street near Smith Street at around 8:45 pm. The owner discovered the bike missing when he returned at around 6 pm the next day.
Car trouble
Car thieves also had a busy week:
• Thieves broke into a Honda that had been parked on Livingston Street near Clinton Street on July 16 at around 10 pm. When the victim returned to the car at around 3 pm on July 17, she discovered that the door was broken and several items, including a navigation system, an iPod touch, a camera, and a voice recorder, had been taken.
• Thieves took a Mercury sedan that had been parked on Wyckoff Street between Smith and Hoyt streets on Aug. 6 at around 8 pm. The owner discovered it missing when he returned 9 hours later.
• Thieves broke into a Chevy van parked on Henry Street on Aug. 6. The van owner left the vehicle between Poplar and Middagh streets at around 1 pm, but when he returned three hours later, he discovered that the lock on the van had been broken and his wallet and iPod were gone.
• A thief trying to steal a Ford Focus parked on Jay Street near York Street on Aug. 9 was caught in the act. The perp was sitting in a Manhattan woman’s car with the engine running when the police pulled up at around 2 pm.
Hit and grab
Two thugs grabbed a man’s iPod on Lawrence Street on Aug. 5.
The victim was near Fulton Street at around 12:45 pm when one thug punched him in the face and took the iPod Touch, while the other thug grabbed the hat from his head before running away.
Post purloin
A thief took a man’s wallet inside the Municipal Building on Joralemon Street on July 23.
The man had left the wallet unattended while he was buying stamps inside the sacred shrine of bureaucracy at around 2:30 pm. When he went back to where he had left his wallet, it was gone.
