Police are investigating the theft of a paralyzed man’s luxury watch collection — worth nearly $17,000 — from his Clinton Hill apartment, a crime the victim only discovered weeks later due to his condition.

The 38-year-old man told officers he last saw his prized watches — including Cartier, Rolex, and Bulgari timepieces — in December inside his Washington Avenue home. It wasn’t until Feb. 6, when he was finally able to search for them, that he realized they were gone.

The man believes they could have been taken while he was at a doctor’s appointment but is unsure who could have accessed his residence. Cops said they are reviewing his building’s security cameras to identify a possible suspect.

Reports of grand larceny are up year-to-date in Clinton Hill’s 88th Precinct, according to Police Department data. As of Feb. 23, when the most recent data is available, there were 35 reported grand larcenies in the area — up from 27 during the same time last year.

Of the seven major crime categories — murder, rape, robbery, felony assault, burglary, grand larceny and grand larceny auto — just grand larceny and felony assault are trending higher this year in the 88th Precinct. Reports of felony assault are up 40%, according to the data.

Meanwhile, reports of burglary and grand larceny auto are down, and reports of murder and rape remain on par with 2024.
