Clones lose second game in a row

Clones bring the lumber in 5–2 victory over Ironbirds

Jamestown Jammers 5
Cyclones 2

July 8 at MCU Park

The Cyclones fell to the Jammers for the second game in a row despite a strong showing by first baseman Jayce Boyd.

Jamestown took the lead in the third inning with a solo shot off the bat of center fielder Juancito Martinez. An RBI single by Boyd — who went two-for-three on the night — evened the score in the bottom of the fifth, but the Jammers came back with another run in the sixth thanks to a hit by first baseman Viosergy Rosa that drove in second baseman Yefri Perez.

The Jammers put up three more in the seventh, with RBI doubles by third baseman Pedro Mendoza and designated hitter Felix Munoz and a sac fly from Rosa. Clones shortstop Philip Evans managed to cross the plate in the ninth with two outs on the board, but Jammers closer Jake Esch fanned left fielder Stefan Sabol to end the game.

The Cyclones are home again at MCU Park [1904 Surf Ave. at W. 17th Street in Coney Island, (718) 449–8497, www.brooklyncyclones.com] tonight at 7 pm as they take on the Jamestown Jammers.
