Coney Islanders gathered for a back-to-school block party on Saturday featuring free school supplies and fun activities that got Brooklyn’s pint-sized scholars psyched for the school year, according to one local leader.

“The young kids had so much fun, they had a marching band and they had the young kids singing gospel, which was awesome,” said Betty James, president of the Marlboro Houses Resident Association.

The event — which non-profit business booster Alliance for Coney Island organized in partnership with Councilman Mark Treyger, Assemblywoman Mathylde Frontus, state Sen. Diane Savino, and Congressman Hakeem Jeffries — saw 1,000 book bags stuffed with pencils, notebooks, erasers, sharpeners, and other supplies handed out to eager-beaver scholars.

Kids were also treated to activities including rock climbing and face painting, along with some educational diversions courtesy of the Street Lab Explore Cart, where kids examined rocks and insect specimens.
