Cops cuffed a New Jersey man on Monday who they say torched his girlfriend’s Boerum Hill apartment the day before, leaving a baby boy and young girl clinging to life.
The 22-year-old Newark, N.J. fiend lit a fire inside a fifth-floor apartment in the Wyckoff Gardens Houses on Third Avenue in Boerum Hill around 7:30 pm on Sunday because of an “ongoing dispute” with his girlfriend, police reported. An unconscious and unresponsive six-month-old baby boy and eight-year-old girl were rushed to Cornell Medical Center, where they are in critical condition, according to authorities.
Three others were also in the apartment at the time of the fire, but the firebug’s girlfriend was not home, police stated.
Cops are charging the suspect with five counts of attempted murder, five counts of assault, two counts of arson, and burglary.
