Police are looking for the public’s help finding the man they say robbed a bank in Flatlands and attempted robbing another bank in Canarsie less than two hours later on Dec. 29.
Authorities say the suspect robbed the Flatlands bank on Ralph Avenue near Avenue K at 11:38 am. Police say the perp handed the bank teller a note that demanded cash, then snatched $1,045 before fleeing. He was wearing a baseball hat and red sneakers during the first incident.
Police say the same suspect attempted to rob the second bank on Rockaway Parkway near Glenwood Road at 1 pm using the same tactic, but he left without any funds. The perp was wearing white sneakers during the attempted Canarsie bank robbery.
The suspect is between 6-foot and 6-foot-4, and weighs approximately 200 pounds. He was wearing black square framed glasses, a waist-length coat with a hood, and a blue, gray, and white scarf during both incidents.
