Corner shot: Crown Heights man gunned down a block away from home

A young man was gunned down just a block away from his Crown Heights home on May 16, cops said.

Police identified the victim as Prospect Place resident Jamal Cox Simms. He was 29 years old.

Officers responding to a 911 call of shots fired discovered Simms unconscious and suffering a gunshot wound to his head on St. Marks Avenue between New York and Brooklyn avenues at 7:17 p.m., and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene, cops said.

No arrests have been made at this time and the investigation remains ongoing, according to police.
