The genius behind “Trainspotting” — which was subsequently made into a spectacularly entertaining film in 1996 by Danny Boyle — is at it again. Irvine Welsh — creator of those troublesome boys Spud, Begbie, Sick Boy and Renton — has fathered another novel — “Crime” — and he’ll read from it in DUMBO on Wednesday.
It’s one of just two New York City appearances by Welsh, but organizers say it will be quality time indeed. Following the reading at PowerHouse Books, Welsh will stick around for a Q-and-A about his tale of an Edinburgh detective whose holiday in Miami turns into a reach for redemption.
Irvine Welsh will read from “Crime” (Norton, W. W. & Company, $24.95) at PowerHouse Books (37 Main St. at Water Street in DUMBO) at 7 pm on Sept. 10. For information, call (718) 666-3049 or visit www.powerhousearena.com. The event is free.
