Cyclones beat Spinners in dizzying 5-4 victory

The Cyclones winning streak continued Saturday with a solid 5-4 win over the Lowell Spinners — but it was a painful victory for all involved.

Brooklyn suffered an early 4-0 deficit as Cyclones pitcher Jeffrey Walters allowed four singles and a double before being yanked off the mound at the top of the second.

The Clones split the difference in the next frame, but not without a few sacrifices: Richard Lucas and Brian Harrison both plated after being hit by pitches.

An impressive showing inside the batter’s box evened everything out at the bottom of the fourth: Nelfi Zapata doubled and Daniel Muno hammered out a triple — bringing home both Zapata and Chase Greene, who walked earlier in the set.

Zapata doubled again in the sixth, earning the winning run as Cole Frenzel smacked a ground ball to left field.

The Cyclones return home vs. the Lowell Spinners at MCU Park [1904 Surf Ave. at W. 17th Street in Coney Island, (718) 449-8497] on July 17, 5 pm. For info, visit www.brooklyncyclones.com.
