Batavia 4
Cyclones 3
Aug. 11 in Batavia
Tomas Nido went three–for–four with a game-tying home run, but it wasn’t enough for the Cyclones to head home with a victory.
The Muckdogs once again got on the board first for the third game in a row and scored in the third after a single, a throwing error, a triple, and a ground out allowed two runs to cross the plate against Casey Meisner, who threw seven innings — his longest outing of the season.
Cyclones batters scored their first run in the fifth when Michael Conforto drove home John Mora, who reached on a double. The Cyclones scored again the next inning when Tomas Nido hit his home run of the season to tie the game at two.
The game stayed tied until the eighth when the Cyclones took the lead after an error allowed Tucker Tharp to reach safely and move the rest of the Cyclones runners over, including the go ahead run.
Batavia tied up the game in the bottom half of the inning as a result of another Cyclone error. Carlos Valdez, who replaced Meisner in the eighth, got caught in a jam in the ninth as the Muckdogs walked off with the win.
The Cyclone return home to MCU Park on Tuesday to face the Spinners.
