Councilman Bill DeBlasio, the only Brooklyn running for public advocate, just got the endorsement of the Working Families Party.
DeBlasio is running for public advocate, though he could run for his Council seat again, owing to the change in term limits, which he opposed.
“Bill has spent his life taking on and winning the tough fights,” Bob Master, Working Families Party co-chair said in a statement. “Whether it is making sure our schools get their fair share of funding, workers have the right to join a union, or big developers build affordable housing, Bill DeBlasio has always been there for working families when it counts.”
DeBlasio said he was “proud” to have the backing of the “grassroots force” that is the Working Families Party.
Currently announced candidates for public advocate include Councilman Eric Gioia (D-Queens), civil rights lawyer Norman Siegel and former Public Advocate Mark Green.
