Dig devil
The big dig from last week’s snowfall ended in a hospital stay for one Brooklyn Heights resident.
Officials said that a 56-year-old was taken to the hospital after a neighbor struck him in the head with a shovel.
His alleged attacker, identified as 47-year-old Alberto Marin, was taken into custody, charged with assault in the second degree, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.
Police from the 84th Precinct said that both men were neighbors at the Muhlenberg Residence, a group home on Atlantic Avenue near Third Avenue.
At 1:30 p.m. on February 13, the victim reportedly banged on Marin’s front door with a shovel in his hand, apparently wanting him to chip in with the shoveling outside.
During the ensuing argument, Marin allegedly grabbed the shovel from the victim and struck him in the head with it, leaving him with head trauma that needed treatment at Brooklyn Hospital.
Sands brawl
Cops were called to Sands Street near Navy Street Monday after two men were found brawling.
Police alleged that 43-year-old Emilio Ortiz and 32-year-old Emmanuel Browne came to blows just after 8 p.m. on February 15 following a dispute.
When police arrived, the two men were found on the ground struggling with each other, police alleged.
Responding officers separated the two men, charging them both with assault in the third degree.
Each man suffered some bruises as a result of the fisticuffs, but no serious injuries were reported.
It was unclear what sparked the dispute as this paper went to press.
Deli raid
An armed man in a ski mask burst into the A&G Deli on Atlantic Avenue last week, taking $500 from the register.
Workers at the deli near Third Avenue said that the 5’6”, 160-pound white male sporting fingerless gloves came into their store at 8:20 p.m. and pulled his gun on the clerk behind the counter.
“Move mother f–ker. Give me the money,” the thief demanded as he rounded the corner and forced the employee onto his knees.
The thief emptied the register and ran off with the cash, leaving the employee unharmed.
Cops are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward.

Macy’s menace
A sticky-fingered thief is lurking around your local Macy’s shoe department.
Police were told that someone snagged bags from two women as they sat down to try on pumps and other footwear on two separate occasions.
His — or her — most recent victim was a 59-year-old woman who put her pocketbook down on a bench so she could try on a new pair of shoes at the Fulton Street store at 6 p.m. on February 6.
When she was done and reached for her bag, it was gone, officials said.
Several days earlier, on January 27, a 29-year-old woman said that someone made off with her bag as she tried on shoes at Macy’s.
The woman said that she was focusing on her feet rather than her bag for about fifteen minutes before she realized that someone made off with her purse — as well as the $150 inside.
Cops were investigating both complaints.
