Up close and personal
Photographer Kurt Kietrich Wilberding wants to bring you closer to Carroll Gardens senior citizens — closer than most of us ever get (except when our Nana is hugging us during our annual visit). Inspired by Annie Leibovitz, Wilberding’s new collection, “Valentino’s Children,” is his way of documenting living history by putting the subjects right in your face.

Live nude nerds
In “Nerdlesque,” a geeky burlesque, notions of sexiness get turned on their head. Producer Chris Chappell, a self-identified nerd, got the idea for the four-eyed striptease after noticing a change in how nerds were being viewed culturally. Yes, nerds are sexy. And burlesque is surging. So why not combine the two? “If nothing else,” Chappell said, “it’s attractive people taking their clothes off.” What nerd doesn’t love that?

Tender bar
Many artists find inspiration in the bottle — but Joe Milazzo did it literally. So a quiet Sunday afternoon is a good time to drop by the Three Jolly Pigeons bar in Bay Ridge to peruse Milazzo’s tavern tableaux, pieces that feature warm, inviting scenes of warm, inviting places. In total, Milazzo crafted 11 pieces, including one of a shot of Jack. Nice idea.

Apps be damned
Lots of nightlife consumers love the “Zinester’s Guide to NYC,” an illustrated guidebook that will give you the best in Japanese breakfasts, bars, pizza, craft supplies, used books, punk rope, storefront museums, subway musicians and more. But at the book party at Book Court, co-author Ayun Halliday will be giving out cookies with contributors Melissa Bastian, Leslie Henkel, Kelly McClure, Joshua Medsker, and our own Bill Roundy.

Tickle time
There’s a new pop-up comedy show, putting Brooklyn again on the yuk map. Starting tonight, Chris Doucette (pictured) will host “Tickle Me Brooklyn,” a free monthly stand-up showcase. This week, he’ll bring in storyteller Sean Patton (of “Jimmy Fallon” fame), “fiesty redhead” Allison Castillo (a “Comedy Central” regular), Paul Case — who’s heavy on the sarcasm — and Maureen Langan.
