Police arrested a 43-year-old Dyker Heights man on charges of criminal trespass in the third degree on Tuesday, one day after he allegedly entered St. Bernadette Catholic Academy on 83rd Street while classes were in session — and a week after a woman reported that he was allegedly taking pictures near the same school.
School officials called police at around 12:40 pm on Nov. 13, when Shu Chan allegedly entered the school between 13th and 14th avenues.
A teacher en route to class said she spotted Chan in the hallway leading to the cafeteria and then called the police, News 12 Brooklyn reported, but he allegedly fled before they arrived. The school remained in lock down until police arrived, according to the same report. Police arrested Chan on Nov. 14 at 3 pm.
On Nov. 8, a woman reported that Chan was allegedly taking pictures near St. Bernadette, on the corner of 13th Avenue at 84th Street at around 12:45 pm, police said. The woman said confronted Chan, but told police that he started arguing with her and taking photos of her when she did.
A woman who answered the phone at St. Bernadette on Thursday said there is a parents-only meeting scheduled at the school for next week to discuss current and future security measures.
