EGG-STRA NICE

EGG-STRA

A dozen adults
and children gathered on April 6 at the Church of St. Ann and
the Holy Trinity, at 157 Montague St. in Brooklyn Heights, to
learn how to decorate Easter eggs in the Pysanky (Ukrainian)
tradition (pictured).

Instructor Susan Frazier taught the adults how to use the Ukrainian
kistka, or stylus, to apply wax to eggs, then dunk them in various
dyes, to achieve colorful results.

Kids made sugar eggs, which were nestled into folded brown paper
bags filled with grass to resemble a bird’s nest.

Pysanky classes are also offered annually at the Brooklyn Botanic
Garden, 1000 Washington Ave. For more information about Garden
