Eight people were injured after a motorist slammed into a city bus in Midwood on Thursday — two blocks away from where another collision claimed the life of a 10-year-old boy earlier this week.

The driver of an express crosstown BM1 bus told police he was passing through a green light at Avenue J on his way south along Ocean Avenue at 11:30 p.m., when the operator of an SUV suddenly collided with the larger vehicle, causing it to careen into a nearby light poll and nearly flipping it on its side.

Paramedics rushed eight people to Maimonides Hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries, according to a spokeswoman for the Police Department, who could not confirm whether police made an arrest or issued any summonses related the crash, saying an investigation into the collision remains ongoing.

The crash happened just two blocks from where a driver jumped the curb and killed a 10-year-old boy waiting for the bus on Ocean Avenue at Avenue L on Sept. 10., and safe street activists would hold a vigil for the slain boy just hours before Thursday’s crash occurred.

The incident also happened just blocks away from where a driver killed Park Slope cyclist Jose Alzorriz at Coney Island Avenue and Avenue L in August.
