Enjoy the ‘View’! Pier 1 film series returns with ‘Manhattan’

Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Movies with a View outdoor film series returns next week — with a movie called “Manhattan.”

Forgive the snub, and head to Pier 1 on July 7 — after all the Spike Lee of Manhattan never made a movie called “Brooklyn,” so this is the next best thing.

This summer tradition is focusing on the “view” part of the name, as most of the films screened have a Manhattan focus — which only makes sense, given the city views from the park at the foot of Old Fulton Street.

Woody Allen’s 1979 dramedy is a nostalgically black-and-white study on arrested development, starring Allen and Mariel Hemingway as his much younger love interest. Diane Keaton, who shares the bench with Allen’s character in the iconic shot under the 59th Street Bridge, is the more age-appropriate flame.

It’s a must-see, even if it is about that other borough.

“Manhattan” at Pier 1 [Old Fulton Street at Furman Street in DUMBO, (718) 802-0603], July 7 with seating starting at 6 pm and the movie beginning after sunset. Free. For info, visit brooklynbridgepark.org.
