Greenpoint residents enjoyed their precinct’s celebration of National Night Out, feasting on hot dogs served by Betty Hulson and her crew of Community Council members, and donuts from Peter Pan Bakery.
Community members congratulated Hulson, the new president of the 94th Community Council, throughout the evening, as several elected officials spoke about making Greenpoint a safer community.
“We have our problems and we have our crime, but we don’t have it to the extent that other neighborhoods have it,” Assemblymember Joseph Lentol told the crowd gathered at Meserole Avenue between Manhattan Avenue and Lorimer Street. “That’s a tribute to you. We own the streets of Greenpoint.”
