Cinco de Moz!

Heaven knows he’s Mexican now! Former Smiths frontman Morrissey is beloved South of the Border, and for Cinco de Mayo the seven-piece act Mexrissey — a Morrissey cover band from Mexico City — will perform his songs with a Spanish twist, presenting the dramatic dirges with a heavy dose of horns.

9 pm at Brooklyn Bowl [61 Wythe Ave. between N. 11th and N. 12th streets in Williamsburg, (718) 963–3369], www.brooklynbowl.com. $25.

Rock the rights

Fight for your rights while rocking out this weekend! The three-day Resist festival of rock bands, dancers, and comedians will raise cash for the New York Civil Liberties Union, and the second day’s lineup will feature Mike Cobb (pictured) and the Crevulators, Mike Lemme, Pinky Swearz, the Serpentones, and the Haggard Kings, among many others.

8 pm at Halyards [406 Third Ave. at Sixth Street in Gowanus, (718) 532–8787, www.barhalyards.com]. $10.

Ink king

Japanese comics master Gengorah Tagame — who usually draws kinky gay erotica — makes a rare United States appearance to promote his new, wholesome all-ages title “My Brother’s Husband.” He will sign and discuss that book today at 4:30 pm, then host a private, adults-only talk and life-drawing session at 5:30 pm.

4:30–8 pm at Anyone Comics (1216 Union St. between Nostrand and Rogers avenues in Crown Heights, www.anyonecomics.com). Free (drawing session $30, $20 in advance).

Sky’s the limit

Get a dose of theatrical glam from Brooklyn band Sky-Pony tonight! The indie-rock outfit, headed by Tony-nominated actress Lauren Worsham and playwright Kyle Jarrow, will bust out some new tunes along with its elaborate costumes and choreography at tonight’s show, which concludes the New York Festival of Song Next series.

7 pm at National Sawdust (80 N. Sixth St. at Wythe Avenue in Williamsburg, www.nationalsawdust.org). $42 ($35 in advance).

Let them eat cake!

The CAKE comedy tour (acronymed for the names of stand-ups Carrie Gravenson, Abbi Crutchfield, Kaytlin Bailey, and Erin Judge) paid for its 10-city tour with Kickstarter pledges, but to get your ticket, you just have to promise to show up at the swank Kickstarter headquarters for an evening of laughs, drinks, and cake.

9 pm at Kickstarter Headquarters (58 Kent St. between West and Franklin streets in Greenpoint, www.cakecomedy.com). Free with RSVP.
