More than Human

While “Late Show” host Stephen Colbert recovers from hosting four live shows during Republican National Convention, his bandleader will be playing in Prospect Park. John Batiste and Stay Human will bring their eclectic jazzy tunes to the Bric Celebrate Brooklyn! festival, and they plan to bring along a roster of secret guests —which may include the late-night host.

7 pm at the Prospect Park bandshell (enter at Ninth Street and Prospect Park West in Park Slope, www.bricartsmedia.org/cb). Free.

In it to twin it

Shakespeare’s comedy of mistaken identity “Twelfth Night,” featuring identical twins Sebastian and Violet (pictured), a love-lorn Duke, and plenty of gender-bending will come to life today in front of the bar South, as part of the Fifth Avenue Summer Stroll. Stop inside the show’s sponsoring bar before or after the performance for its signature drink — the “What You Will” punch.

6:30 pm at South Bar (629 Fifth Ave. between 17th and 18th streets in Park Slope, www.southbrooklynshakespeare.com). Free.

On the Case

It’s a triple threat of female performers tonight in Prospect Park, when the supergroup of crooners Neko Case, k.d. lang, and Laura Veirs join forces. Your ticket price tonight will help pay for all the free shows that are part of the Bric Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival, and it also scores you a free download of the trio’s album.

Triple threat: The supergroup of Neko Case, k.d. lang, and Laura Veirs plays Prospect Park on July 26.

Never say die

Grab some free popcorn and indulge in some nostalgia tonight, when the Downtown Alliance hosts a screening of “Goonies,” the 1985 flick about kids hunting for hidden treasure amidst trap-filled tunnels. And the film speaks to today’s concerns in Brooklyn — the Goonies are hunting for cash to save their homes from gentrification!

8 pm at Metrotech Commons (5 MetroTech Center, between Jay Street and Flatbush Avenue in Downtown), www.downtownbrooklyn.com]. Free.

Boom and bust

Stop by the Brooklyn Museum tonight and catch the bizarre Boombox Retrospective by Tom Sachs. The 18 sculptural music boxes (including “Phonkey,” pictured) will only be only display for a few more weeks, and tonight a DJ will be spinning from the “Presidential Vampire Booth.” Admission is free on Thursdays, so you do not have to feel bad about skimping on the suggested donation.

6–10 pm at the Brooklyn Museum [200 Eastern Pkwy. at Washington Avenue in Prospect Heights, (718) 638–5000, www.brooklynmuseum.org]. Free.

Double your pleasure: Kevin Stanfa and Heather Kelley play identical twins Sebastian and Viola in the South Brooklyn Shakespeare production of “Twelfth Night” on July 23.
