Life’s a beach
Brooklyn’s sandy waterfront’s are open today! The real action is at Coney Island, where crowds will throng Nathan’s Famous for a cheap frankfurter, but continue on to the beach, plant yourself in the sand, and then take a cooling dip in the Atlantic Ocean. That should calm you enough to plunge back into the chaos of the Boardwalk on summer’s opening day.

Hootie-hoo!
Celebrity chef Carla Hall’s much-anticipated Southern Kitchen will open its doors today, offering a limited menu that will surely include the Nashville’ native’s speciality, Nashville hot chicken. Hall has not announced an exact time for the opening, but you have the day off work — join the line early and you will make it in eventually!

This is the closing night of the extremely silly new play “Orphan Action League,” in which an eccentric millionaire (pictured) assembles an elite group of crime-fighting orphans to take down a child labor-using villain called Grandpa Moneybags. Do you feel Lucky?
Sure, there is no shortage of places to get authentic Asian food in Sunset Park. But the hipster fare of the Luckyrice Festival, hosted by Brooklyn chef Dale Talde and featuring twists on classic Asian cuisine from more than 30 restaurants, still sounds like fun.
