Line up!

Gallery Players launches its fall season tonight with the show biz musical “A Chorus Line,” about 17 dancers competing for eight slots in a Broadway show. The music is toe-tapping, the choreography is tight, and we are looking forward to see how they cram all those dancers onto the stage of a 99-seat theater!

Yo, go!

On your mark, get set, meditate! Get up with the dawn and serenely stroll to Wanderlust 108, a “mindful tri-athalon” in Prospect Park, which includes a 5-kilometer walk, yoga, and meditation, followed by a market filled with essential oils and tarot readings. Tickets are free if you are Zen enough to wait until 11 am for just the yoga and meditation sessions.

Step right up!: This banner depicting Coney Island barker Dick Zigun and a collection of sidehow figures from the past will be on display in “Coney Island: From the Studio,” a solo exhibit of work by Marie Roberts, who paints banners for the Sideshow. The show opens on Sept. 7 at 6 pm.

Tower talk

Seventeen years after 9-11, it still feels odd to do anything lighthearted on this date. So lean into the melancholy and stop by “Transformed Overnight: The Impact of 9-11,” where news anchor Pat Kiernan, poet Tina Chang, and 9-11 Museum director Clifford Chanin will discuss how the city has changed since the terror attacks. Afterwards, walk down to the Brooklyn Promenade, where you can see the lights shining from the former site of the World Trade Center.

7 pm at Brooklyn Historical Society [128 Pierrepont St. at Clinton Street in Brooklyn Heights, (718) 222–4111, www.brooklynhistory.org]. Free.
