Five things to do in Brooklyn this week!

Five things to do in Brooklyn this week!

Friday

March 30

Mane event

It ain’t no passing craze! Those who saw “The Lion King” as kids are still crazy about the Hamlet-analog with the smelly warthog pal, so tonight’s adults-only “Lion King Movie Musical Party” — featuring performances from Disney cover band the Little Mermen (pictured) — will have a screening, sing-alongs, and a trivia contest.

8 pm at the Bell House [149 Seventh St. between Second and Third avenues in Gowanus, (718) 643–6510, www.thebellhouseny.com]. $15 ($12 in advance).

Saturday

March 31

Wit’s end

Spend 20 minutes on Twitter and you might conclude that the world should be canceled immediately. Comedian Zach Zimmerman was raised to think that was actually going to happen, and discusses his apocalyptic Christian upbringing in “The End of the World” tonight, in a double bill with the queer 1930s-style revue “Fag and Hag Pull Out all the Stops.”

9:30 pm at the Brick [575 Metropolitan Ave. between Union Avenue and Lorimer Street in Williamsburg, (718) 907–6189], www.bricktheater.com. $10.

Sunday

April 1

Bear tale

What better secular activity for Easter Sunday than Shakespeare’s play about someone who is unjustly accused, dies, and then returns in miraculous fashion? The Polonsky Center’s production of “The Winter’s Tale” is an astoundingly acted, tear-jerking tragedy, lightened by some excellent clowning in the second half and a dance-off with a bear.

2 pm at Theatre for a New Audience, Polonsky Shakespeare Center [262 Ashland Pl. between Fulton Street and Lafayette Avenue in Fort Greene, (212) 229–2819], www.tfana.org. $90–$100 ($20 people under 30).

You’ve never had a friend like him: Alexis Babini, the lead singer of the Little Mermen, will play at the Lion King Movie Musical Parrty at the Bell House on March 30.

Picture it

Learn not to trust your lyin’ eyes — and something about the past — at “Photoshoppin’ History,” a night of four storytellers sharing true stories about historical subjects, accompanied by wildly untrue visuals. Among the speakers will be Mary Brownlee’s discussion of going over Niagra Falls in a barrel.

7 pm at Starr Bar (214 Starr St. between Irving and Wycoff Avenues in Bushwick, www.starrbar.com). $5.

Wednesday

April 4

Shack up

Brooklyn duo the Shacks has already had its airy dream-pop featured on an iPhone commercial and on teen soap opera “Riverdale,” but now you can catch Shannon Wise and Max Shrager live, when they return to their hometown to launch the band’s debut album “Haze.” With opening act Holy Hive.

7:30 pm at Baby’s All Right [146 Broadway between Bedford and Driggs avenues in Williamsburg, (718) 599–5800, www.babysallright.com]. $12 ($10 in advance).

Funky little shack: The Shacks will launch the new album “Haze” at Baby’s All Right on April 4.
