Greenmarket shoppers were treated to a bounty of fresh melon and skin rashes at the McCarren Park Greenmarket (corner of Lorimer Street and Driggs Avenue) this past Saturday, as farmers and residents competed in the first annual Farmer Olympics.
The events included a watermelon seed-spitting contest, similar to the long jump, and a farmer’s tan contest, which is not similar to any kind of event in this summer’s Olympic Games.
