"Building
Fort Greene: Precedents" opened on May 1 at the three-month-old
A:D/B Project Space. The exhibit, curated by A:D/B co-director
Catherine Morris (above left with co-curator Chris Hall), explores
the architectural history of Fort Greene, and comes at a time
when controversial plans are in the works to turn the neighborhood
into a cultural district, with the Brooklyn Academy of Music
at its core.
This exhibit, in the form of a timeline featuring photographs,
maps, salvaged architectural detailing, newspaper articles and
other ephemera, is the first in a series of exhibitions culminating
in an examination of contemporary architecture and design culture
in Fort Greene.
"Building Fort Greene" will be on display through June
2 at A:D/B Project Space, 116 South Portland Ave. between Hanson
Place and Fulton Street. The gallery is open noon to 6 pm, Thursday
through Sunday, and by appointment. For more information, call
(718) 855-9394.
