Leeza’s Place at Park Slope Geriatric Day Center will host a forum entitled “Alzheimer’s Disease: All the Facts and None of the Fiction,” May 29 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the center, 1 Prospect Park West.
Learn the answers to questions such as: Is Alzheimer’s disease hereditary? Will learning chess and doing crossword puzzles reduce my risk of developing the disease? Is it true that estrogen treatment can prevent the disease? What are the pros and cons of prescription drugs such as Aricept and Namenda? Are there any new treatments in the clinical trial stage that seem promising?
These questions, along with others, will be answered during a presentation by Ellen Drexler, associate director of Neurology and attending neurologist at Maimonides Medical Center, 4802 Tenth Avenue.
Drexler will be speaking and taking questions. Light refreshments will be provided. An RSVP is required by calling Leeza’s Place at 347-296-2345.
