State Senator Martin J. Golden, along with the City University of New York, are hosting a citizenship event July 19 in the cafeteria of Our Lady of Angels School, 337 74th Street.
The event is part of the CUNY Citizenship and Immigration Project, a program, which seeks to offer immigrants free and effective citizenship and immigration law services as they attempt to become U.S. Citizens.
Experienced lawyers and immigration professionals will be on hand to help participants fill out the necessary forms they will need as they move forward in their efforts toward gaining citizenship.
In order to receive help filling out the necessary forms, one who attends must meet certain naturalization requirements. One must have resided in the US as a permanent resident for five years or three years of permanent residence if one is married to and living with a US citizen.
You must also have been physically present in the US for half of that five- or three-year period. Also, you must be at least 18 years-old.
Certain documentation will be needed at the citizenship event as well:
· Green Card
· all passports since obtaining a Green Card
· Social Security Card/Selective Service Card
· marriage/divorce history
* son/daughter information (date of birth, A#)
· all previous home addresses
· employment history
· criminal history (if applicable)

Events like this one allow us to expand the services we already offer at our centers, and to reach out to a greater number of New Yorkers.”
