Frank wants his own backyard farm!

Frank Hoier read in The Brooklyn Paper about the women who are farming people’s backyards, so the Bard of Bushwick was moved to write his new hit, “Brooklyn Sharecropper” for this week’s “Rhythm and News” feature.

Take it away, Frank.

Brooklyn Sharecropper

Well, my neighbor and I

was fightin’ everyday it seemed.

Felt just like I was onions and he was beans.

Till BK Farmyards turned my yard into a farm

I gave my neighbor some tomatoes

now we walkin’ arm in arm

I’m a Brooklyn Sharecropper

But I don’t have to plant a seed

’Cause BK Farmyards is sowin’ em for me.

Well, I used to buy them ugly ol’ cans of Goya beans

now they growin’ in my backyard

pretty as you ever seen.

Well, I know some people say

cabbage tastes bad.

Well, you must not have had this Brooklyn cabbage

I have had.

I’m a Brooklyn Sharecropper

But I don’t have to plant a seed

’Cause BK Farmyards is sowin’ em for me.

Well, I look out my window my neighbor got a

yard full of weeds.

Old junk and garbage, it’s a sight to see.

I tol’ him quick about BK Farmyards

Now we swappin’ eggplants like there’s

no tomorrow.

Well, if you like me and you don’t want no

potato from Peru.

How’d you like it grown right next door to you?

Beets from Bushwick,

Swiss Chard from Clinton Hill

Lord, I’m gonna grow my farmyard

Till I get my fill.
