Free tennis lessons for kids

Councilman Vincent Gentile celebrated the beginning of a free community tennis program at PS 186, 7609 19th Avenue in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn. The program, operated by the New York Junior Tennis League, provides free tennis instruction and practice to children ages six to 18.

The program will run now to June 26 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 3−6 p.m. Parents can register their children at PS 186 during the program’s hours of operation.

Gentile brought the program to the local community by providing the New York Junior Tennis League with $7,500 in funding.

“This is going to give local students a great way to get some exercise, develop some skills and have some fun this month,” Councilman Gentile said. “It’s so important that these programs are available to students in our neighborhood, and I’d encourage parents to get their kids out to PS 186 and get them involved.”
