Harriet’s Alter Ego, a lifestyle boutique and art gallery in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn is hosting Freedom Day @ Harriet’s.
Freedom Day is a South African public holiday celebrated on April 27. It celebrates freedom and commemorates the first democratic post-apartheid elections held on that day in 1994, when they saw Nelson Mandela elected as president. Freedom Day @ Harriet’s takes place April 27 at 5 p.m.
The event brings together South Africans and Brooklyn residents to be treated to a unique South African experience, as they sample traditionally prepared cuisine courtesy of Madiba Restaurant, taste native liquors and enjoy the music of South Africa. Event highlights include a special performance by South African band, the BLK JKS.
Harriet’s is at 293 Flatbush Avenue between St. Marks & Prospect Place. Admission is free.
