After receiving numerous complaints from Canarsie residents regarding the unsafe condition created by a lack of sufficient street lighting on Avenue J between East 84th and 86 streets, Assemblyman Maisel contacted the Department of Transportation, (DOT), asking them to conduct a survey to determine if additional street lighting was warranted.
After their investigation, the DOT concurred with Maisel that the location was indeed in need of additional lighting.
Maisel stated, “I appreciate the cooperation from DOT Commissioner Sadik-Khan when addressing the needs of our community; this is the 3rd request I have made on behalf of my constituents for additional street lights in recent months that has been approved by DOT.
