Firefighters raced to the corner of McDonald Avenue and Kings Highway recently after an all-hands fire broke out in the H&I Custom Furniture Shop. Officials said that the blaze started on the first floor of the building – inside the store – just before 8 p.m. on September 16. The fire was put out in a matter of minutes and no injuries were reported. Witnesses said that there was extensive fire and water damage to the entrance of the store, but it was unclear just how far the damage extended inside. The cause of the blaze was still under investigation as this paper went to press.
