A massive junk yard fire filled the skies above Flatlands with smoke Wednesday evening.
The inferno that engulfed multiple cars at the Preston Court scrap yard between Ralph Avenue and E. 56th Street sparked at around 5:08 pm, and 12 fire engines manned by 60 of New York’s Bravest rushed to the scene, according to an FDNY spokesman.
Smoke eaters wrestled with the fire for more than two hours, sounding the all clear at 7:25 pm, firefighters said.
There were no injuries as a result of the blaze, the cause of which is being investigated by fire marshals with the New York City Bureau of Fire Investigation, according to the fire spokesman.
