Boys & Girls (5-4 Brooklyn AA Group 2) cut the lead to three points in the fourth quarter, but Midwood (6-2) pulled it out for its fourth straight league win. The Hornets, who lost to Boys in an upset earlier this year, had a 33-18 lead at halftime.
Brittney McFadden had 12 points and three steals for Midwood and Dawn Akingba added 10 rebounds and a pair of blocked shots.
“We played well in the first half and they came out strong to start the third quarter,” Midwood coach Artie LaGreca said. “It was a tough game from the middle of the third quarter on. I give Coach (Mark) Baker and the girls from Boys & Girls a lot of credit. They never quit and played a very tough second half.
