Get involved, dad!
Student-led singing and dancing %u2013 plus a chorus of cheers %u2013 greeted hundreds of fathers, who accompanied their offspring to school on their first day at Public School 272 as part of an involvement campaign by Learn NY.
The schoolyard at East 102nd Street and Seaview Avenue overflowed with parents, mostly of the brawny sex, who heeded research that children tend to do better in school if their parents and guardians take an active interest in their education.
Following a welcome ceremony, youngsters headed to the classroom while parents assembled in the gymnasium for breakfast and a meet-and-greet with school officials and Learn NY organizers.
