Governor David Paterson led a long list of electedand appointed citywide officials in ushering in the second term of Councilwoman Sara M. González at the new Sunset Park High School, 35th Street & Fourth Avenue, in her district. Joining them were community leaders, educators, constituents, family and friends .
Dedicating her inauguration to her father, Abelardo, González spoke of her coalition-building and shared the credit for her accomplishments with community leaders and groups, her colleagues and individuals from throughout her district and the city.
González promised that “while this might be a moment of great uncertainty for our city and our nation, by appealing to our better angels, we will get through this by pulling together.”
She went on to say, “I am confidant that, by working in partnership, not only will we survive the current downturn, but we will emerge as a stronger community that will provide a better place to live for our residents and the generations to come.”
