A 77-year-old man died last week after he was struck by his own car during a reported parking dispute in Sheepshead Bay.

Police said Gravesend resident Iosif Lontsman left his 2010 Subuaru Forrester running as he stepped out at the intersection of Avenue W and Ocean Avenue on the afternoon of April 25. The vehicle rolled forward and struck Lontsman, then crushed him against a stationary Nissan Altima at the intersection.

According to the New York Post, Lontsman was exiting the car to confront the driver of the Nissan about a parking space.

Paramedics hurried Lontsman to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn with severe injuries, where he was later pronounced dead. An investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made in connection to the incident.

The Post reported that and his family immigrated to the U.S. from the former Soviet Union in 1989, and that he left behind a 50-year-old son and two young grandchildren.

So far this year, six traffic fatalities have been reported in the 61st Precinct, where Lontsman lost his life, per the latest NYPD data, a 200% increase from the same time period last year.
