Anniversary celebrations were on the agenda for the Guild for Exceptional Children when the service agency, who “builds brighter futures,” marked 51 years of service to Brooklyn’s disabled community with a dinner dance at El Caribe Country Club.
Workers, clients and members of the community joined festive forces for an evening of merriment and fundraising at the catering facility, 5945 Strickland Avenue, which also served to honor supporters with “Exceptional Friends” awards.
The honorees were: Dr. Salvatore Ferrera, president, Xaverian High School, 7100 Shore Road; Tatyana and Alan Forman, sponsors in Rotary International’s Gift of Life program which provides life-saving surgeries; Nancy and Thomas Mulligan, who established the namesake Peter J. Mulligan Center in Bay Ridge to commemorate their son, a Cantor Fitzgerald employee who was killed on 9/11; and Knights of Columbus-Archbishop John Hughes Council 481.
