Fellow owner Sheila Brody along with Maria started out as licensed message therapists and built the business from the ground up. In 2007, when they opened at their current location, they were on the cutting edge of eco-correctness, using all eco-friendly materials to retrofit what was the first sustainable building in Bay Ridge. State Sen. Marty Golden, (R-Bay Ridge) told Standing O that, “the center has been a leader in the community, and I wish them continued success.” So does Standing O.
James Brody, dad to Maureen and Sheila and husband to Bridget, is a retired sand-hog and Wellness angel— he’s also a customer. “Papa James suffers from black lung disease and before regular treatments couldn’t walk a block, but now thanks to all the alternative methods available, he’s able to sprint along the 69th Street Pier,” said Maria.
