To The Editor:
Stanley Gershbein, (“It’s Only My Opinion”), I really appreciate your addressing the use of food stamps to purchase more costly products than regular consumers can afford. I have been noticing it for the longest time and it makes my blood boil.
I may be wrong but I think that the scanning of products preclude paying for items that are not covered by food stamps, however, those stores that don’t have scanners can and do accept food stamps for everything.
I wish there was a way to be able to tell the tax man where I want my tax dollars to go.

Stanley Gershbein responds:
Dear Ms. Gluck,
I understand what you’re saying about the small stores, but I see the fraud at major supermarkets. Beer, dog food, and hot prepared food all being scanned and paid for with food stamps.
I have forwarded my thoughts to both of our US senators for their thoughts. Let’s see if they even respond.
Thank you for writing.
