Downtown Brooklyn, Brooklyn Heights and Boerum Hill residents have to start being on the lookout for traffic enforcement officers.
That after the city completed updating alternate-side parking signs and will again be enforcing parking laws.
The street cleaning/alternate side parking regulations were temporarily suspended September 8 in small parts of downtown Brooklyn, Brooklyn Heights south of Joralemon Street, and Boerum Hill due to a changing of signage and regulations.
The areas suspended included all parking signs marked with a broom symbol within the following borders:
Joralemon Street (not included) from Furman Street to Boerum Place; South: Atlantic Avenue (not included) from Furman Street to Court Street; Court Street (not included) from Atlantic Avenue to Wyckoff Street; Wyckoff Street/St. Mark’s Place (included) from Court Street to Fourth Avenue; Fourth Avenue (not included) from St. Mark’s Place to Pacific Street.
Additional areas are Fourth Avenue (included) from Atlantic Avenue to Pacific Street; Atlantic Avenue (included) from Fourth Avenue to Classon Avenue; and Furman Street (included) from Atlantic Avenue to Joralemon Street.
The new signs reduce alternate-side parking on most residential blocks from twice per week to once per week, and shorten its duration from three hours to an hour-and-a-half.
The newly posted regulations will be enforceable starting on Monday, November 9, giving residents two weeks to adjust to the new rules.
