A hit-and-run driver slammed into a bicyclist in Bushwick on Wednesday morning, killing him on impact, cops said.
The motorist behind the wheel of a 2014 Bavarian Motor Works buggy hit the bicyclist at the corner of Broadway and Halsey Street at 7:50 am, police reported. Emergency services found the cyclists unconscious and unresponsive in the street, according to authorities. An ambulance took the bike-rider to Woodhull Hospital, where medical staffers declared him dead, officers said. Police are not releasing the 46-year-old’s name because they have not yet been able to reach his family.
After smashing into the cyclist, the driver hit a parked car at the same intersection, cops said. Then he turned down Chauncey Street and onto Boyland Street and slammed into a 2000 Toyota 4-Runner that was pulling out of a driveway, cops said. Both the driver and the passager of the Toyota are at Woodhull Hospital in stable condition, authorities stated.
The driver abandoned the vehicle after hitting the last car and ran off, cops said. Police said they are not sure whether the vehicle was stolen and that the investigation is continuing.
