Despite frigid temperatures that even managed
to keep away event co-chairs Sally Singer, of Vogue, and Emma
Bloomberg, daughter of Mayor Mike, attendees at the Prospect
Park Alliance Junior Committee’s "Skating Under the Stars"
fundraiser worked up a sweat.
The 150 revelers, such as Meg Scheding (left) and Leah Abeles,
who did brave the cold and laced up their skates on Jan. 21 raised
$5,000 for Prospect Park. Attendees, in their 20s and 30s thawed
out between laps around the rink with vintage board games in
Kate’s Corner, the rink’s snack bar, while sipping mugs of Bailey’s-laced
hot cocoa.
Those who missed the skating party can always host their own,
as the rink and Kate’s Corner are available for rentals. The
next Junior Committee benefit, the Summer Soiree, is slated for
July 21 at the park’s Picnic House, which is currently undergoing
renovations.
According to Kate Smith, manager of individual giving at the
Prospect Park Alliance, plans are already underway for the soiree.
Said Smith, "We’re on target for our biggest and best event
yet."
