After a marvelous, well-fought, scheming campaign, Senator Hillary Clinton finally packed it in. The headlines of one of our local newspapers shouted that she went kicking and screaming. After all of the energy and dollars that were put into her colossal effort, I don’t blame her. She actually had eighteen million fans believing in her reasoning that she deserved the nomination. The rules called for the delegates and super delegates to choose the nominee. To heck with the rules. Senator Clinton felt she was entitled to the nomination because 1) she was leading in several polls, 2) she’s more popular according to the numbers, and 3) examining the last three months of the campaign she had “momentum” in her favor.
Still don’t understand? OK. Let’s apply her way of thinking to my favorite sport. The other night our Mets lost the game by one run. The odds makers, similar to the polls, favored the Mets. 2) According to the numbers, the Mets had three more hits and two more walks than the visiting club. That translates to five more base runners and because they were playing at Shea Stadium, the Mets, like Hillary, were definitely more popular. 3) The visitors scored all their runs in the first three innings and remained quiet for the rest of the game. While the Mets scored one less than them, they scored all their runs in the eighth and ninth. Obviously the “momentum” was in their favor. Therefore, if we apply Hillary’s logic, even with less delegates…ooops. I mean runs; the Mets deserve to put one more in the W column. Makes sense to me.

Some of you will Email me right now to say that this is a Republican plot and no Democrat started them. That may be so but I did learn about the sites from a couple of friends who LOVE Hillary, campaigned for her, and swear that they are now between Barack and a hard place. They vowed to never have anything to do with the DNC.

Even though I don’t agree with her politics, I love Susan Sarandon. She’s pretty, sexy, has the most beautiful big eyes and is a terrific actress. News reports tell us that she is threatening to move out of the United States and relocate to Italy or Canada if Senator McCain is elected president.
No Susan. No. No. No. Please don’t leave us. To hell with the economy, world situation, price of gas and terrorism. Knowing that you will stay here in the United States is more than enough of an incentive for me to vote for Obama.

So you think that you had a tough time filing your income tax. You might want to give some thought to what some large corporations have to go through. General Electric filed a 24,000-page return and I don’t think they used H and R Block.

Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times gave “You Don’t Mess With The Zohan” a bubbling “B” review. A “B” is equivalent to three stars. The same “B” came from Wesley Morris of the Boston Globe. Joe Neumaier of the New York Daily News gave the flick a so-so, mediocre two stars. After A.O. Scott of the New York Times wrote about an “overstuffed plot” and “awkwardly executed gags” he asked, “Did I mention it’s a comedy?”
I saw it, loved it, couldn’t stop laughing and in spite of the silly plot, this movie sends a good message. I am StanGershbein@Bellsouth.net asking, did everybody see the same movie?
