It’s going to be difficult to navigate through Brooklyn Thursday as the borough prepares for the Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks extravaganza.
The NYPD announced the street closures for tomorrow’s Fourth of July celebrations near the Brooklyn waterfront.
Authorities will close off many streets to traffic during America’s birthday in neighborhoods near the Brooklyn Bridge, including Brooklyn Heights, Dumbo, and Fulton Ferry Landing with limited parking starting Wednesday night.
There will be no parking from 11 p.m. Wednesday until the following midnight Thursday, and cops will close streets to vehicular traffic from 2 p.m. Thursday until midnight.
Anyone parked in a parking garage within these “frozen zones” will have to get their vehicles in or out before 2 p.m., according to authorities.
Police will also clear the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridge foot and bike paths — at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively — and will close off several exits of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway.
Police advise attendees to use public transportation if they’re going to view the fireworks, which shoot off from the bridge and from barges anchored between Piers One and Five at 9:20 p.m.
They note that all street closures, frozen zones, and no parking locations are subject to change without prior notice.
