It may have been a lucky coincidence, but, just in time for Women’s History Month, a trio of female officers was in the spotlight during the March meeting of the 68th Precinct Community Council.
The three — Officer Jennifer Cordero, Sgt. Tania Mohabeer and Officer Shamika Bolta — were named “Cops of the Month” at the station house between Third and Fourth avenues for three different reasons.
Cordero was singled out for having collared a trio she caught breaking into a vehicle.
“She got a lot of GPS’s and other stolen property off of these guys,” noted Deputy Inspector Eric Rodriguez, the precinct’s commanding officer.
For Bolta a routine car stop led to a drug bust that yielded “heroin, crystal meth and pills,” Rodriguez said.
As for Mohabeer, she was honored for “the work she does, day in and day out,” said Rodriguez. “Tania has taken the forefront ever since she’s been here. She’s a great leader.”
