A bitingly satiric take on “Slumdog Millionaire?” A kazoo and ukulele duet? A dog who can answer final jeopardy questions (according to its owner)?
Welcome to Williamsburg’s Public Assembly bar (70 N. 6th Street), site of a middle school−style talent show presented by the Open Space Alliance and the Woodshed Collective theater company.
The show featured 14 acts along with a handful of bands. It started at around 8 p.m. and went until 2 in the morning.
This summer, OSA and Woodshed are teaming up to present theater performances in Williamsburg’s Sternberg Park. Last summer, Woodshed staged productions of Twelve Ophelias, a modern take on the Shakespeare tragic heroine, in McCarren Park Pool.
“It was really successful, and we hope to do it again next year, with even more acts,” said Stephen Squibb, Woodshed’s Artistic Director.
“This is the only community in New York where an event like this can take place.”
